Get to Know Zoë

For as long as I can remember, I have been participating in some type of sport, whether it was soccer, softball, swimming, cross country, track and field or tennis. I was an avid tennis player for Naperville Central High School and qualified for state my senior year. However, as my tennis career was coming to a close, I knew that there was one passion I didn't want to give up: sports.

Less than a month after I graduated high school and prior to even stepping on Marquette University's campus, I was hired as the youngest sports reporter for the Marquette Wire. As a newcomer in the fall of 2017, my job was to cover men's and women's tennis.

My sophomore year I was promoted to Assistant Sports Editor, which meant I now edited reporters' feature stories while also writing recaps for volleyball, men's basketball and women's lacrosse.

During summer 2019, I had an internship with Chicago's Very Own WGN. That helped me gain connections to be a runner for Bucks games during the 2019-20 season.

In December 2019, I was promoted to Executive Sports Editor. The new job encompassed running the sports desk and overseeing everything from our weekly newspaper's content to Golden Eagle Sports Report, our weekly sports show. I also am heavily involved in executive producing our live TV broadcasts, running our social media accounts, planning travel and managing basketball radio broadcasts.

I was also an intern for the O'Brien Fellowship for the 2019-20 school year and worked closely with a professional journalist, Payton Guion, on a year-long investigative story.  The story ended up on the front page of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Wisconsin saved Plymouth's rail line, but drivers at risk because of inadequate safety measures.

I graduated summa cum laude from Marquette with a double major in Journalism and Digital Media with a double minor in Spanish for the Business Professions and Theology.

Following my graduation, I spent six months as a social media intern for ESPN. My main job was to watch Get Up and First Take and assist talent. I mostly posted to the shows' Instagram and Twitter accounts, with occasionally helping out on the main feeds (ESPN/NBA on ESPN/NFL on ESPN, ESPNW, SportsCenter). I worked with on-air talent such as Adrian Wojnarowski, Adam Schefter, Jeff Passan, Mina Kimes, Richard Jefferson, Dan Orlovsky, Kendrick Perkins, Mike Greenberg, as well as Stephen A's social manager.
